How IontoPatch™ Works

IontoPatch™ uses a low electric current to deliver medication through the skin, hair follicles, and sebaceous glands to underlying tissue.

Medication is applied to an electrode pad with a similar charge while saline is placed on the opposite pad. When the patch is applied to the skin, the circuit is complete and drug delivery begins.

Example

Drug Charge +/- Condition
Dexamethasone Negative Inflammation-tendonitis/bursitis

Example

  • Drug: Dexamethasone
  • Charge +/-: Negative
  • Condition: Inflammation-tendonitis/bursitis

Using the principle of “like repels like,” the drug is now repelled away from the similarly charged electrode pad and into the skin.

The low current and longer-duration delivery allow more of the applied drug to penetrate the skin, for that drug to remain localized to the treatment area, and to deliver effective treatment with a low incidence of side effects.

IontoPatch™ is precisely designed to deliver a specific amount of medication over a prescribed delivery time. Applying IontoPatch™ is quick and pain-free and when drug delivery is complete, IontoPatch™ stops working and can be removed.
